Food....food...food!

Today, I was reminded about one of my favorite things about Japan...the FOOD!  Wow, the marketplace at the first floor of the OIOI store was incredible.  I made about 3 laps around the area picking up a natto (fermented soybean) roll and some candies.  I can't wait to go there again and try some of the other foods I saw, smelled, and wished I could all eat then.  I could have stayed there all day eating different foods.  All different kinds of musubi, sushi, fish, bento boxes, tsukemono, curries, cakes, desserts, pastries, and breads.  Everything was so meticulously prepared and presented in such fine detail that you almost feel like you're not supposed to eat it.  And when you do, you really appreciate it even more.  Maybe that's why the Japanese here are very lean.  They don't just eat, they appreciate what they eat.  One other thing I noticed was they did not have was a place to sit and eat what you bought.  There were some seats at the food court, but most of the folks I saw were taking the food home with them.  I think that stopped me from buying a whole bunch of stuff and eating it there.  Maybe that was a good thing!
